Union Terminal is one of the most historic buildings in Cincinnati, and it needs your help.  Many are unaware of the situation that the home of the Cincinnati Museum Center is in.  As with any building, Union Terminal is not immune to environmental factors and the years are starting to show.  On Saturday June 9, 2012 I had the opportunity to go on a free photo walk to the heights and depths of the building

Anyone who knows me will attest to my love of this city and its heritage and as a Cincinnatian it saddens me to see the building falling into disrepair. It falls into this state not from lack of effort on the part of its current ownership/management but for financial reasons.  It’s a large building, much larger than I expected, and it takes a substantial amount to keep it in top shape.  Currently run by a non-profit, Union Terminal simply costs more to fix than the funds available.  We need to be sure that this amazing landmark is preserved. Hopefully by shedding light on the  dire need for help and the historical significance on this beautiful space something will be done to be sure that it is enjoyed and cherished for generations.

As you look through my pictures you’ll see the beautiful art deco art and architecture alongside crumbling masonry, rusty metal and plaster turned to rubble.

I’ve also set up a page that automatically updates with the most recent Instagram posts tagged #cincymuseum.
